I think David Duvall’s settings to Shakespeare’s Sonnets will be a great teaching tool. It provides an opportunity to demystify Shakespeare’s words and put them in a format that will connect to students. Adding music to the rhythm that exists in the sonnets seems like a natural fit. It will also break down important writing tools and allow for discussion about character, relationship, objective and obstacle.
